Job Summary :

TEDxMaitama is an independently organised TED event operated under license from TED. It is a one-day event featuring eminent speakers from different fields that will share unique ideas about our community here in Abuja, Nigeria and beyond.

Role Overview

  • The Social Media Manager will shape, execute, and optimize TEDxMaitama’s presence across all social platforms.
  • You will craft content that elevates our speakers, amplifies our events, grows our community, and communicates our mission with clarity and creativity.
  • This role is ideal for someone who loves storytelling, understands digital culture, and thrives in a fast-paced, impact-driven environment.

Responsibilities :

  • Content Strategy & Execution:
    • Develop and implement a multi-platform social media strategy aligned with TEDxMaitama’s goals and event timelines.
    • Plan monthly content calendars covering announcements, speaker highlights, behind-the-scenes, thought pieces, reels/shorts, testimonials, and partnerships.
    • Create or coordinate the production of high-quality posts: graphics, short-form videos, clips, carousels, and thread-style content.
  • Community Management:
    • Engage with audiences across Instagram, X/Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, and emerging platforms.
    • Respond to comments, DMs, and community questions with warmth, accuracy, and professionalism.
    • Build conversations around key themes such as innovation, leadership, personal transformation, sustainability, and women’s empowerment.
  • Growth & Analytics:
    • Track performance metrics weekly/monthly and optimize content for engagement, reach, and follower growth.
    • Run experiments around formats, hooks, hashtags, and publishing times to maximize discoverability.
    • Collaborate with the YouTube Manager to amplify TEDxMaitama talks and shorts.
  • Brand & Messaging:
    • Ensure consistency of tone, visual identity, and storytelling across all platforms.
    • Draft captions, micro-stories, and short-form scripts that reflect TED’s clarity, simplicity, and curiosity.
    • Work with the Creative and Partnerships teams to support campaigns, speaker announcements, and sponsorship deliverables.

Job Requirements :

  • Proven experience managing social media for an organization, brand, or creator.
  • Strong writing, captioning, and storytelling skills.
  • Ability to edit short-form videos (Reels, Shorts, TikTok) is a strong advantage.
  • Familiarity with digital tools like Canva, CapCut, Adobe Suite, Meta Business Suite, and analytics dashboards.
  • Passion for ideas, culture, innovation, and community-building.
